Creating a Beautiful Rental Home: Tip 6~

Tip #6
Do hang up curtains or replace ugly blinds.

Dressing up the windows add visual interest, warmth and texture to your home. Our home had really hideous vertical blinds in the kitchen. I took them down and hung up drapes instead. We went out and bought inexpensive hardware and I recycled Ikea curtains from our last home. You can see what I did with them here. Buying neutral drapes allows you use them in another home or room. Ikea is a great place to get inexpensive drapes.

You can also purchase inexpensive bamboo blinds at places such as Home Depot, Walmart or Target. I bought some for our house in Virginia (don't have photos) but my husband forgot to take them down for the movers to pack them! Apparently the new owners of the house were really please to see them up

These drapes were in our previous bedroom that had narrow colonial style windows. I had 4 panels that I bought at Linens and Things on sale. Since we had a bigger window at this house, I joined 2 panels to make a side, lined them and made pinch pleat drapes. One day when I have a day to spare I will make a tutorial on how to make pinch pleat drapes. They are not too hard to make, but require some sewing and math skill plus patience!
